Although new to Camberley, our Fleet office opened a few years ago. David Holmes and family have been working in funeral service since 1978, over 30 years of experience. Our initial interest was sparked by our step-father, a policeman who worked as a Coroner’s officer. David Holmes first worked for Kenyon’s funeral directors in London. At that time they were proudly the Royal undertakers. Andrew Holmes trained with the Co-op in Slough before moving to well respected firm T H Sanders in Richmond Surrey.

The first Holmes funeral home, a joint David and Andrew venture, opened at Hounslow in October 1992. The Brothers ran two businesses. Andrew Holmes & Son, with offices in Twickenham, Chessington, Richmond and Surbiton. David founding Holmes & Daughters, with offices in Teddington, Feltham, East Sheen and Ashford. Our remarkable joint success was due to hard work, good service, attention to detail and the assistance of our extended family. Sometimes five or six Holmes’ were involved in a funeral. Both original West London firms are now under new (corporate) ownership.

Our new venture – Holmes & Sons at Fleet and Camberley is now the only Holmes family owned and run funeral business. It’s a real family endeavor too. David and Sheena are assisted by Laurence Holmes, Ollie Holmes and young Henry Holmes. Although retired, Dad John Holmes helps out too. We’re often asked by families who knew us in West London to conduct funerals there. It is always a pleasure to revisit West London on these occasions. We’re happy to go wherever we’re asked.
